This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in teaching the skill of tying shoelaces and to assess its effectiveness in improving the independence of students with intellectual disabilities. The research employed a Single Subject Research (SSR) approach with four students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri 1 Makassar as the subjects. Data were collected through observation, teacher notes, and photo or video documentation. The results showed an improvement in shoelacetying skills, enhancement of fine motor coordination, and increased student independence. The conclusion of this study recommends that teachers apply the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to train other life skills so that the independence of students with intellectual disabilities can continue to develop.
