Abstract

The Bugis ancestral cultural heritage, encapsulated in Pappaseng (the message of Bugis parents), has long served as a means of social control and a guiding way of life within the Bugis community. Its content, rich in moral teachings, is aimed at shaping individual behavior for the better. This study explores the acceptability of a bibliocounseling guide that integrates Pappaseng ethical values within the KIPAS counseling framework to improve students' social skills. The research employed a bibliocounseling approach that incorporates cultural values to enhance the effectiveness of counseling. The study utilized Aiken's rater analysis to assess the clarity and accuracy of the guide, conducted by both guidance and counseling experts and cultural experts. The results of the analysis revealed that the guide's clarity received a validity index of 0.83 (High), while its accuracy achieved a validity index of 1.00 (Very High). Based on these results, the study concludes that the bibliocounseling guide, containing the ethical values of Pappaseng Bugis, is highly acceptable for use in Bugis-guided counseling settings. This guide is deemed effective in improving students' social skills and can be used as a resource by Bugis guidance and counseling teachers in schools. The findings highlight the potential of culturally-grounded counseling tools in promoting positive student behavior and fostering an understanding of local cultural values in educational contexts.
